About

SEXUAL HEALTH RANKINGS

Sexual Health Rankings is the first comprehensive measure and state by state comparison of sexual health in the United States.

An independent project led by Variance, LLC, Sexual Health Rankings aims to promote a positive, wellness-focused approach to sexual health, normalize discussion of sexuality, expand public health surveillance of sexual health, and examine variation in population sexual health.

The Sexual Health Rankings composite index and state rankings are produced annually and published on this Web site. The current Third Edition of Sexual Health Rankings includes data for the year 2014. Previous editions were published in February 2014 (Second Edition, for the year 2013) and December 2012 (First Edition, for the year 2012).

The Third Edition of Sexual Health Rankings was produced with support from the makers of Trojan Brand Condoms.

CORPORATE PARTNER

Trojan Brand Condoms

TROJAN™ Brand Condoms are America's #1 condom and have been trusted for over 90 years. As the most trusted name in protection, Trojan continues to be a leader in the sexual health arena and remains dedicated to mainstreaming the conversation and sharing positive messages on sexual health in this country. By sponsoring the State by State Safer Sex Index, a sub-set of the Third Edition of the Sexual Health Rankings, solely focused on STDs and contraception the brand is continuing its commitment to providing couples everywhere with accessible information and products that provide protection and enhance pleasure. With nearly 20 million new cases of STDs occurring every year, and only one in three sex acts involving a condom, there’s clearly room for improvement and the time is right for an honest conversation on the state of sexual health in America. By drawing attention to this issue and serving as a catalyst for information and improvement, we hope to influence sexually active Americans to make smart decisions about their sexual health.
